We often call Japanese way or Japanese taste “和風【 WA-FUU 】” , instead of 日本風【NIHON-FUU】. 和【WA 】means harmonize（ and 風【FUU】means way or style）.

Japan is often drawn on the eastern edge, “極東【KYOKU-TO】;Far East" on a map of the world. Various cultures were transmitted from the west to the east, South, North and finally “和【WA】harmonized” in Japan in the Far East, then becoming”和風【WA-FU】 ;Japanese style cultures.
Many cultures have flowed from the west to the east of the Eurasian Continent through the Silk Road. Then, it arrived in Japan at the very end, “和【WA】harmonized” there and became Japanese culture.
